Temp went down to 95????

I put 36 eggs in the bator last night and the temp was still at 95 this morning. How long will it take to get back up? I didn't touch the knob to turn it up because it was at 101 when I put them in.

Give it another couple hours, then check it again. What kind of bator do you have? You could try and adjust it now, just make sure you watch it closely so it doesn't get too high, expecially if it's an LG!!

Did your room temps go down or is the bator in a drafty room?

If it's an LG do you have a fan in it?

36 eggs are a lot of mass. I usually give mine at least 12 hours to
stabilize after filling it with that many eggs.

Remember an LG or Hova should be 100 to 101 degrees at egg level
and at least 101 up top, depending on a fan or not.

Get a WIGGLER and you don't need a better bator you just need to get to know
yours.

You need a knob from a dimmer switch. They fit right on the adjuster for the LG, and it makes it so much easier to adjust. With the LG, just turn it a little bit until the light comes on, then it 'should' only go up about a degree or two.

Nope the room temp did not go down, and I don't have a fan, I think I will put one on next time, I will see if I can find one. It hasn't been 12 hours yet. The last time I used it I didn't touch the knob and it was at 101 on the top of the egg. I will go looking for a WIGGLER today. Any idea where I could get one? And thanks.

Was it up and running before you put the eggs in it? Or was the temp in it 101 the last time you used it and you just turned it on when you put the eggs in?

My Hovabator still-air doesn't get adjusted between hatches...I pull the plug, clean it, and set it aside for the next use. When I'm ready to hatch in it again, I set it up and run it for at least 2 days before setting the eggs. Usually it's close (like your 95*) but I still have to play with it to find that sweet spot again. If I leave it running, it'll stay pretty consistent with the temp it's set at....

You may find a wiggler at a Walmart. It's just a toy. I bought mine on
ebay.


Any bator without a fan is a challenge. You can turn it up "just a bit"
and watch it close. When I adjust the temp on my lg's I don't even see
the knob move. Now that you have all those eggs in there the temp
shouldn't spike like it did. My LG has a fan in it and I haven't adjusted
the temp in months. Our house drops to 57 degrees at night and the
LG holds temp better than my Brinsea or the Hovabator Genesis do in the
same room.


Remember that air temp, especially on still air bators, will swing a lot.


Oh, and don't worry about your eggs. They can easily survive swings of
a few degrees. My bators lost power for 24 hours the other night and
I still had a good quail hatch. We'll see how the others do. Today is
day 21.


Best of luck. The first few hatches in any bator can be very un-nerving.

I also put it up on blocks so it could get air from below. Someone on here told me to do that the last time.

These eggs are from my chickens and some from shelly. I can't wait to see how they come out.
