i had my bator run all day on 99.5 degrees empty. loaded 29 eggs watched closely for 4 hours and the temp stayed at 99.5 . went to bed woke up 4 hrs latter temp at 104. reset temps woke up at 6 to go to work temps at 102 reset again will check at lunch. what are the varations on temp better for it to be a little hotter than cold?live in old house and the temps in texas are jumping all around
 
Is your unit a still air ar forced air? The temps should be fine, candle in a couple days to see what is developing. I would error on the side of being cool as oppose to being too warm. As for living in a old house with temp issues, just make sure that they are in a room that has the most stable temps, away from windows and heating units. Good luck with your hatch.
