Tempature question

If the chick is dry and fluffy I would take him out and get him into the brooder. If you put the other eggs to your ear, can you hear anything? Tapping or scraping noise?

Still no other pips, I checked the eggs I don’t hear anything when up to my ear, however I do hear everyonce in a while what sounds like a chreap but can’t pin point what egg.

I would wait. What day are you on now? Do you only have the one chick so far? If so, and the others don't hatch, you might need to get your single chick a friend!

So I did an autopsy on the eggs and only 2 of them were quitters the rest of them looked to be fully developed inside the egg no yellow yoke inside at all, we left them in the incubator for 26 days and only 2 hatched how do I know what we did wrong being they all looked normal?

Ugh, this is the eternal question.. I cannot answer as this happens to me too. Last hatch I had 4, perfectly formed, ready to hatch and then something, something happens that switches them off. All other 18 hatched just fine. Drives me nuts. :he There are soooo many variables that could affect them, quick changes in temp when opening the bator, changes in humidity, shock...... on and on. Sorry your hatch was not more successful. I did not read back through the thread and I expect you answered this already but what kind of bator are you using?

We are using a farm innovators 4250 has fan and egg turner, we did notice that the temp does fluctuate inside +-1 degree, I also belivie it has cold spots inside along the sides.

So, I read back through the thread and it seems like initially there was fluctuation in the temp. of about 4 degs, this is significant, I think. I also think you are right about your bator not holding temp well, and perhaps the fan does not circulate the air evenly.

Did you only end up with 2 eggs out of 22?

Yes only 2 our off 22 eggs hatched, 6 infertile 3 blood rings, and then the rest looked like they would hatch so at lock down we had 13 eggs that looked good. 2 of the 13 ended up being being quitters the other 9 looked fully developed when I did the egg autopsy. We were wondering if those others would have hatched if we let them sit for another 4 days but we will never know.
