I bought new baby chicks and I was wondering what the temperature had to be in the brooder

90 - 95 for the first week. You might want to do some reading in the Learning center, or type some of your questions in the search bar. It will give you a list of threads dealing with your questions, and will answer questions that you didn't even know you had. I've found this to be a very good tool.
