My friend has a baby
double silver laced barnevelder that she is looking to sell I have 3 isa Browns and 3 white leghorns. The isa Browns are 6 weeks old and the white leghorns are 3 weeks old and they all get along I was just wondering how the temperament of the double silver laced barnevelder breed is? I’m new to chicks so just trying to get some info.

Barnevelder range from even tempered to meek. I personally wouldn't get a single chick to add to your mix as it will probably remain solitary and on the bottom. Get 2-3 chicks minimum at a time.

Okay, I will get 2, she also has French black copper marrans, barred rock, and black Australorps. Which ones out of those are the best temperament?

That's a personal preference I think between them. Rocks and Australorp are similar in temperament, and I haven't had a BC marans, though my blue is very personal and friendly, but it could just be her.

Okay, thank you! Now I have a really stupid question, if one ends up being a rooster can we still eat the chicks eggs even with a rooster? Like i said this is my first time ever having chicks.

Yes you can eat the eggs. You will just want to be more vigilant collecting eggs in warmer weather and not let them sit. All my eggs are fertilized.

So there’s no way to know if they are fertilized or not?
The tiny white spot on the yolk will have a circle within it, you'll only see if you break it. Eating fertilized eggs is not an issue! You probably already do. Recently someone posted that they put a Walmart egg in their incubator and it hatched.
