Hello, I am using a Genesis Hovabator 1588 with an egg turner. I have a batch of eggs ready to enter lockdown. In the past I've noticed that when I remove the egg turner and put the eggs on the bottom screen, my thermometer (not the one built into the top, but an additional digital one that I use for cross-reference and calibration) drops a few degrees. It's not a surprise that it is cooler by the screen. However, my question is whether or not it is necessary to make adjustments to the calibration and bring the temperature up? I can't recall off hand how much cooler it gets, but I know it drops below 99 F.
The directions that come with the Hovabator make no mention of this. They say simply lay the eggs out on the screen and adjust humidity.
I'll be setting my eggs into lockdown within a couple of hours so any input would be really appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
