Hello all,

I have 6 new chicks (hatched Thursday, I believe) I am currently brooding in an approximately 40”x50” box. They are currently under a heat lamp because supply problems, quarantine closures, and mail delays have thus far derailed my Plan A, B, C, and D for alternate heaters. I have been adjusting the heat lamp frequently to stay between 90 and 95 degrees.
I am attaching a picture of them sleeping just now at 92 degrees. Do they look comfortable to you all?
Thank you so much! (I know I need to clean the brooder again soon.)

Looks good to me. Quiet chicks are happy chicks. If they are uncomfortable they will surely let you know with excessive peeping.
Why not a regular red heat bulbs?

I purchased both the 125 watt lamp and the 250 watt red one, but saw that the red lamp would provide far too much heat. The 125-watt lamp is actually as high as I can raise it in my current arrangement. I am expecting a heating pad in about an hour and then may try to assemble a Mama Hen Cave. For now I will keep a very close eye on the light and on my chicks!
