Temperature question

My temp was perfectly regulated till I put the eggs in and now I am having trouble keeping a constant temp. It fluctuates between 98.5 and 100.1 in a forced air LG incubator, is that alright? Also I am having a really difficult time controlling the humidity this time around and last night it went down to 33% and then later after I added water went up to 79%, could this have done any damage. I have wet cotton balls in there and one tray filled with water should I possibly put a sponge in there to help regulate the humidity better? We are in a dry area of Florida and from the fact that my daughter was suffering from nosebleeds recently it tells me that it is not very humid outside right now. These are my first set of bantam eggs (but my third hatch) and I really don't want to mess up this hatch so any help would really be appreciated. Thanks.

Mine will cycle between 98* & 100* and they are fine. I add a large sponge to mine at the end to get it up to the 70%. I had to adjust the water amount for several days to find how much was needed to stay at the 50% mark. You could try a sponge and just add water till you get it to were you need. Then when you see it start to drop just add a small amount back to bring it up. I have a homemade incubator so mine is a little different. I use 2 poached egg containers as my water bowl which when full is right at the 50% humidity mark. Good Luck

Thank you for the reply. I am really concerned about the humidity as it has been running in the low 70's and this is only day two of the incubation period and I read that it should be at 60-65%. I am afraid I have drowned the poor little things before they have had a chance. Fingers are crossed though and hoping for the best and I am going away and leaving them for several days so hoping for the best there also.
