Hello! I’ve had my incubator running for a few days, and my eggs arrived today! :wee

I’m letting them sit for 24 hours before putting them in the incubator, so I still have time to make adjustments! My question is this:
I have a Brinsea mini II advance, and I’ve been monitoring the temperatures and humidity with two Govee thermo-hygrometers in the front and back of the incubator, laying flat. The one in the back always reads cooler!

I did swap them to test that one wasn’t faulty, but got the same results.
Is this normal? Would it be better for me to have the temps a little higher so the ones in the back stay a little warmer? Or will they be alright? Should I try putting a foam insulation panel on the wall they’re against?

Where is the incubator located? Is one end near a window or something similar?

I'm not entirely sure, if the turner rotates all the way around, then it may be ok. 98 isn't too bad.

Though maybe @CluckNDoodle can help more.

I think the turner goes back-and-forth, not all the way around. So that would leave some eggs always in the cooler part, rather than moving them all through it in turn.

I was wondering that too :)

If the cool side is against a wall, then putting insulation in between sounds like a good idea. Or move the whole incubator further away from the wall.

The Brinsea Mini II Advanced rotates the eggs around the incubator much like the Nurture Right 360 so it makes up for hot and cold spots. I used to have the same incubator. As long as the average is 99.5F or close, it will be just fine. We've been discussing this at length about the govee thermometers in another thread, lol. The heating element is also at the top of the incubator radiating downwards toward the eggs so it's likely warmer on top of the egg rather than laying flat in the incubator.

Glad to hear it!

I have used the Maxi Advance, and it does not rotate the eggs around. I assumed the two sizes would work the same way as each other (the dangers of assuming!)

lol, No worries! It's been a while since I sold mine so hopefully I'm remembering everything correctly. :lau

I must say the Govee is driving me crazy. think I am going to take it out of the incubator once I get a good average reading and not bother with it since watching it just drives me nuts!!!!!!

Thank you, everyone, and sorry for the late response! I have 9 days left and 4/7 eggs are healthy so far. I put foam insulation under and behind the incubator, and that seems to help! There is a door a few feet away from the it, but it's never opened. The temperature still varies a bit, but not enough that I'm too concerned.
