I've incubated a lot of chicks but not seriously or this early before this year. I've been hatching chicks since january. I've got 2 magic flys, a rectangle bator purchased from amazon, and an older style farm innovation bator. I'm not using the auto turner on any of them. I'm using several types of thermometers a chemistry glass type, a newer glass type with blue dye, and 3 from tractor supply. My qu is this whenever it storms my temp goes either up or down by 2 deg. At 1st I tried painstakingly to correct it. Then I let it be. It self regulates within 4-8 hrs. This has been mostly noticeable prior to march 10th or so. I live in southwest iowa and we have had a lot of weather changes. Has anyone else noticed this trend? Also it doesnt seem to affect hatch rates/times. Although I am having a better fertility/hatch rate now that we r into spring which is to be expected

Mine is second hand, can't even remember the brand. The temp drops a little quite often - which doesn't really matter, but it never really raises. It's really the temperature getting higher that I'd be worried about. If it does get high it can kill the embryos. So if this happens maybe open the lid a little until it goes back down. I mostly have trouble with humidity - living in a sub-tropical area. Ughh.. Incubators are so annoying. Good luck with hatching this season!
