Temperatures are rising!! How do you keep your chickens cool in the coop, run, and or brooders?!?!

My girls were you last year and I did mist them on the smallest setting...they didn't like it. I have added an OVEReasy coup and thought about using the mister in the roof to cool the inside where they lay and roost. The shade under it will be perfect. I'm going to water it now 100 is in the forecast on Monday. I will post a pick of the area I'm talking about.

Here is my coop and run with the prefab coop inside. All facing south. Under the coop is a great place for them to hide, Now the rest of the year is shady all around and the chickens do move with the shade. They were under the cherry tree when I took the pick. They all came running. BTW they run the backyard all day. That red coop is going to be an oven for laying.

That frozen jugs of water idea is just great. I started doing that in our heatwave up here. I ran across it in another post from Texas, where I figure y'all KNOW. I don't have room for a jug in my freezer (how do you freeze whole jugs???), so I freeze pint Gatorade bottles that I rinse & refill with water. 3 or 4 for the chickens and one apiece for each quail pen. They really liked it and it did work like bird air conditioning!

My birds have a lucky setting where they mostly get shade in the heat of the day, and then the chickens and one quail pen has an extra tarp over the top to add more shade . Dropped the temp in there by about 15 - 20 degrees compared to the sunny area just outside. The chickens camped in the spot under their prefab (awful) plastic coop which I am using as a handy cupboard for storing feed, grit, tools, etc. It was like a chicken hideout under there with the ice bottles.

Ice cubes with corn inside so they peck ice to get to corn cools them down I mist the coop make sure plenty cold.fresh water on hand open up all coop doors and windows tarpaulin along side one run panels to make shad sharp sand so they can dustbath so far so good xx

South-eastern North Carolina. Very humid and very hot from May to about mid-October. Highs can reach 110 with humidity 70%-96%. It's miserable. The minute you step outside you are soaked with sweat. That's what worries me is chickens don't sweat. The only way anyone stands the heat around here is in the water or in the ac. I just set out little pools with about 2 inches of water in them and a few are having a ball but the others are scared of it. I'm sure they'll get use to it in time. Misters are on they have dirt baths everywhere in the shade. Fans blowing and their run is entirely open fence except the tarps on top. I may change out the tarps for something more breathable tomorrow, just need to find something to replace them with.
I use the screening for ponds during the summer. Plenty of air flow without scrimping on shade. About $15 at Lowes.

I live in south texas and extremely hot and humid weather. I have an open air coop type of coop that I built, yet that still didn’t cut it as far as chickens overheating. I invested in fans made specifically for dusty areas(think horse barns). I have 3 of these going full blast 24/7, I go out in the heat of the day and put the hose inside the coop and let it soak and entire area, and find that many hens will lay down in the wet area to cool off. I tried the whole frozen water bottle thing, however I have too many hens and I don’t have enough space in my freezer to freeze that many water bottles I would need for the number of chickens I have.
this year I have ordered another fan. I like the fans with sealed motors either Max Air or Tornado brand. These are the industrial ones that put out a lot of air, but also much safer for the area i have them in.
X2
I have a couple of industrial fans from TSC. I've been using them for 4 years without a problem. I usually turn them off for a few hours a day. I know the chickens appreciate them, because they gather in front of them. The rest of them love to sit in muddy areas, that i make under the trees.

Will putting up this reflective shipping material work? The red coop is where they lay eggs and it's HOT in the heat of the day.
