I would like to work some new areas with my flock of 13 chickens (de-weeding, fertilizing), and want to set up some nice temporary fencing with 6' nylon poultry netting. I don't want the electric fencing route - just seems excessive and complicated. I don't need bomb-proof security - if the birds hop over every now and again, no big deal. I just want something that's managable, easy to move, easy to roll up and store, maininanc free, etc.
I've did one with some 6' fish-net that i bought on ebay that was impossibly unmanageable - the light guage nylon got tangled just by looking at it. The fact that the squares were oriented as diamonds, with the corners pointed up and down meant that when you stretched the net to be tight, it would pinch inward from the top and bottom, leaving a gap at the ground and making it much lower than 6' in the middle between posts. So i need something with squares oriented horizontally. I also want it to be a little heavier guage than fishnet so it will be less tangly and last a long time.
I've looked at "poultry netting" on ebay. There's a lot of 25' X 50' rolls which i could cut down, but not much that's 6', and it's hard to tell from the photos and seller's description just how good it is. I wonder if someone else has expience with this and has a particular product that they swear by.
Thanks,
-Todd
