I wouldn't take birds on those conditions. I would do it with the understanding if I wanted to sell them someday you had right of first refusal, but not agreeing to just hand them back over some hazy day in the future, maybe. I would chicken sit/board for a defined period of time for a specific reason, but not with an undefined end plan. Too many things could go wrong, too many chances for hurt feelings. I wouldn't want someone else feeling they had ownership/decision making rights over what I consider my birds. If you need to sell them, just sell them. Buy more birds when you're in a position to do so.
