so my babies have been happy in my office with their box and light, temps were at about 80ish and everyone was doing swell. Everyone except my dog... she would not stop whining at the door and barking at every peep. So we moved our chickie babies out to the garage and bought a "brooder light" from Lowe's. Now I can't get the temps right... first the light was too close and the temp got up to 105, then I moved it and it got down to 60!!! I think I have it right now, hopefully I won;t have to spend the night checking temps....some of us have to work tomorrow.

I feel your pain. This is going to be our first time w/ chickens. We get them tomorrow (can't wait!!!!) So we bought our supplies last week and I have a big cardboard box inside a large dog crate ( for security from our dog) in our unheated sunroom. It has been making me NUTS this past week! Every moment day and night I am running to check the temperature, raise the light, lower the light, wrap w/ blankets, unwrap the blankets. OMG! Iam so afraid that Iam going to fry or freeze my babies.
