My silly chickens are sleeping atop the roof of their coop. It's going to get down into the mid 40s tonight. Will they be ok? Or should I go out there and plop them all in the coop?

They'll be fine! Mine do it all the time. Actually, all of mine did that down to about 25F. At about 15F, the youngest and oldest went inside. Anyone over 8 months or so and under 6 stayed out.

I would put them in the coop. Not because it's going to be cool, but because it's safer to have them locked up at night.

Those owls love chickens roosting outside.

Most chickens can really take the cold.

Here it's the heat they can't take.

I agree. Too many predators looking for some KFC.

For their safety and your sleeping better at night lock em up...

When my dogs bark at night I do a mental check of did I lock this barn up and are the geese in their enclosure?
Like being on call 24/7
