Temptation of adding new chickens

I went to the feed store to buy some hay and feed this morning. Someone about a week ago, had brought in about 50 or so beautiful looking Red and Black Sex Link hens as well as a few Black Australorp hens, all about 10 months to a year old to be sold. They all appeared to be very healthy, in a clean environment with plenty of food and water. Some were even laying eggs in 5 gallon buckets with hay in them all lined up in a row on an elevated rack. I was thoroughly impressed and seriously considered buying some of the Black Sex Links.
I decided not to because I knew better due to possible unseen health problems, even after quarantining. It was a tough decision but I knew all the hens will soon be all sold.
I eagerly await for my chicks to hatch from a BYC friend!

I'm so impressed you could resist the temptation! I would have had a really hard time saying no, too. What kind of chicks are you getting?

I feel your pain! I've been wanting to add at least one more hen to my group since last summer. We finally built a small chicken house that seems to be fort knox! This group of 2 hens, and my roo love their home, cuddle up on their perch at sundown. No chasing or gathering chickens nightly. We are spoiled!

Yeah I am thinking that you might have dodged a bullet as well. After reading so many sad stories even by people who did everything right and still wound up losing birds, you know you did the right thing. You will be so happy when you get those chicks and know that they are healthy. Good job resisting!
