Welcome to BYC!!Hello! I've got an acre-ish in Northeast Tennessee that I'm hoping to have a decent poultry operation on. I've raised and kept chickens for about three years now, but have only had simple barnyard flocks. I'm hoping to learn enough to start maintaining multiple coops so I can keep a few different breeds without getting them all mixed up. We've dealt with some predator problems but have overall been very lucky with our birds. I really just want to learn more about how to care for my birds and learn how to expand my flock.
I'm hoping I can learn how to deal with predators and disease much better, we've been very lucky with our chickens so I'm hoping when the time does come for treatments or getting rid of predators I can get at it with a little more know-how. I'm fully at home with my child at the moment, so more work is kinda what I needWelcome! Another Tennessean here, and same as you 3 years. For the keeping different breeds, try using colored zip ties. Will add though, that different coops is a lot of work! So much cleaning! LOL What else do you want to learn?
If you have any specific questions about certain predators, you can ask in more detail in our Predators forums here... https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/predators-and-pests.13/I'm hoping I can learn how to deal with predators and disease much better, we've been very lucky with our chickens so I'm hoping when the time does come for treatments or getting rid of predators I can get at it with a little more know-how.
