Tennessee?

We have been looking for a large tract of land in the southern central portion of Tennessee. Someday I hope to return to TN!!! ....if we can only find the good deal!! Beautiful country around there!

Hi Sissy, thanks for the welcome. Right now I don't have any yet. wegotchickens who is a member here and lives in my county is going to give me some eggs for my granddaughter to hatch and I have promised her dad I will take the chicks off his hands when they hatch. :) But, I plan to order some chicks soon. Here's what I liked in the catalog I have and I want to get 5 of each kind for a total of 25. I tried to get some that lay white eggs and some that lay brown. I'm sure somewhere down the road I will want to try hatching some eggs myself since I'm that type of person. :)

Buff Brahma Bantams (brown eggs)
Partridge Rocks (brown eggs)
Single Comb Brown Leghorns (white eggs)
Pearl White Leghorns (white eggs)
White Crested Black Polish (white eggs)

Hi granny Pat. been busy today haha Pipes froze
not in the hen house in our place, my ladies are just fine and the 3 roos are happy as ever..you sure have picked out some beautys .. when will you order them?
My pet chickens is a good place I have heard and you dont have to buy 25 birds . I am planning an order from them some Buff Orpington, Bantys.

Hey DAWN -- looks like no one else is coming into the Porter's Turkeys Order - but we can still split it, heck I'll just order more than I need... lol. ::nudge nudge:: besides you KNOW if you get a couple extra someone nearby will want some.

What month you want to order them? There'll likely be a wait to get eggs because buffs and fall fires are less numerous at this point. And I reallllllyyyyy want fallfires this time.

So email me about which month you want to put up the order.

Anyone else here in our TN group, and in middle/east TN who wants poults this season and wants to just get a few in on our order can email me.

Porter's min is 15. That's a lot of turkeys if you don't want them all or can't afford 15 at a time. If we split the lot up we don't buy what we don't need.

PM or email gladly returned. Cher

Well, here goes the neighborhood... hey all! We're in Grundy County...

We've got 40 acres in Altamont, Tennessee, and we just got our first sex-linked chickies in May 2008. We've got 22 right now, and will be getting more in the spring, but haven't decided what breed yet... we really like the black sex-links, they've been sooooo easy, they don't mind the cold, and they're really good layers... we're averaging 15-20 eggs per day, even in the low temps! 'Course, I say that's really good, but they're my first set of girls, so I really don't know for sure. It seems pretty good to me.... but, I might try some red sex-links this time, or maybe we'll go with some Orps or something... we'll see....

We ordered our girls from Welp Hatchery online, and had a really good experience with them. We ordered 25, got 26, and didn't lose a single chick to sickness or anything. We lost a couple to the dogs before they got big enough to defend themselves, but that wasn't the hatchery's fault...

Anyway.... looking forward to this board, ya'll are loads of fun...
