Welcome Yankee! Finally, some more folks on MY side of the state!

BYC is the bright spot in my day every day. It is the place that hatched (pun intended) my chicken obsession, the source of most of my chicken-related information, and a good social outlet for my otherwise isolated, work at home existence. Main forum issue seems to be the promotion of egg and chick sales by moderators. Some questionable business practices from such.

We are in Claxton/Powell area, just a few minutes outside of Knoxville.

Cool I went and joined the Yahoo TN Poultry group. Kewl. More connections. I've been on byc for a couple of years, just this year under this name.

The chickenaddicts here are totally cool. Way too much good information and they've totally addicted me to breeds I'd never even looked at before.

I think the mods here are top notch. If I had high end, great birds like some of them, heck, I'd list what I had for sale too.

Speaking of which, they're killing me with cochins and brahmas - the lace wing colors are to die for. I'd never considered feather foots for the TN rain and red clay dance but now I'm tempted.

I'm still just trying to find a good source for partridge rocks but that's proving rough, other than the big hatcheries.

Hey, we're going to the Lebanon Fair this weekend and the Knox Fair next weekend! Yay!

LOTS of banties at the Lebanon Fair this year, not as many heavy breeds. A few really nice birds, though! If you have questions about poultry while you're there, look for a guy with a mustache sitting at one of the side tables ~ Ronnie Davenport. He's the poultry admin there, knows lots of chicken people, and he usually shows some of his banties there too. Good guy.

If you saw the bantam frizzled cochin, I bought her -- along with two of the four Anconas that were there at the Wilson County Fair.

Walkswithdog, I just moved OUT of Knoxville. Too bad we never crossed paths while I was living there!

Oh, P.S. -- I had several people tell me that the Wilson Co. Fair was the largest poultry show in the state, but I don't believe it. I've been to the Tennessee Valley Fair (Knoxville) several times, and I'm convinced that it's a good bit larger. I'm gonna verify that next week!
