Hello! This is a cool site. Chickens aren't legal in my city. Should I do hens (no roosters) on the down-low? I have a large fenced-in yard.

I would take a look at https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/37/local-chicken-laws-ordinances-and-how-to-change-them before you take the risk. There might already be people in your community that are trying to get things changed.

I would not risk setting up your facilities, getting fined and then have to rehome all your birds that you have no doubt become attached to. Hard on you, hard on the birds. But I would check out the link that LeviS has provided and maybe you can get your laws changed.

Good luck!

If you dare to have stealth chickens, please have a plan b, for someone else to take them in if you are forced to give them up.

Welcome to BYC - if you are planning doing this on the 'down low' hens it must be. Have a plan B in case you get 'caught'.
