I am going to use the pvc as a run for sure! I would of never thought of it but it is just such a cool idea.

Yeah, I loved the idea and it works great for a run or a coop. I am going to make another one next spring for some SQ SLW's I want to get from either Foley's or Pauls. They will be kept separate from my other chickens, so this one will probably be bigger as they wont be let out of it until they get some size on them. I will get rid of my RIR roo and keep a SLW roo. Or I could let one group out one day and the other group out the next day. Haven't decided yet. You could also put a small coop inside one if you made it taller, or a crate, or play house, etc.

If you use PVC pipe to make your hoops it is better to use the grey PVC in the electrical dept. It is UV rated and will last longer out in the open.
The white stuff is really made to be underground and can have issues due to the sun.
If you are making a wider style coop then get the thickest PVC you can bend to the arc you need. 1/2" pvc is really flimsy if not bent pretty tight.
It is also a good idea to put in a 2x4 ridge at the peak. Then add some supports for snow/wind load.

You can also make the hoops using cattle panels: http://www.plamondon.com/hoop-coop.html
