is there a thread explaining chicken terminology, jargon, abbreviations?

Is a coop the same as a hen house?
Is a roost the same as a perch?
rooster, roo cockeral....all the same thing?

Please excuse my ignorance (or don't, whatever...) Thanks

Thanks Lollipop.

Here's another one or two...

When you say a chicken goes to roost is she going to sleep? does she sleep on the roost/perch? and is the roost in the coop?

What does broody mean?

Yes, yes and yes

Basically, when the hen wants to become a mother. When she is broody she will gather a clutch of eggs and sit on them until they hatch, instead of getting off the nest and pecking around with the rest of the flock. She obviously has to get off periodically to eat and drink but will stay off minimally so as not to let the eggs get cold.

A quick going through the stickies, and I found: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=1638#p1638

Looks
like it contains about every chicken related term imaginable, and then some.

A board often covered with vinyl or other material to allow removal of poop from it that is placed under the roosting area of a coop to make cleaning easier.
