apparently, we have a termite nest in the ground by a stand of trees - the winged ones were exiting this morning and my 4 week old chicks had a ball chasing and eating as many as they could!
When we are spitting wood and find termites, we drop the infested wood in with the chickens and they have a feast. We found some over the winter (when there are not many insects available) and they just went nuts.
