Terrible fire - burned chickens - what to do Help please.

Sorry to post again...but DE absorbs moisture...so it might have slowed it down......but if there was a fire , it would have burned the whole coop down in minutes . Did you guys get out there while it was burning ? If not.....you must have someone looking over your shoulder ! Straw burns like moss does on a tree ! If you would like ....I can send you some mutts to hatch out to recover your losses ...just pm me to find out what I have and if you want them...no charge even shipping .

My thoughts are with you and your chickens. There was just an article on the front page of our paper, that said 9 "baby chickens" were just killed in a barn fire. (We live in PA, but NOT 2 hours from Pittsburgh)

I am so sorry for your loss.

my Austrolorp hatched out ten mutt babies this past week...there were ee eggs, maran eggs, BA eggs and leg horns and maybe a rock or two...no idea of sexes and another egg, she has four left, is cracking...it is a staggared hatch as she stole a bunch of those eggs from the other girls...I would be very willing to send them on their way to you...I feel so badly about your girls...where are you located?

So sorry for your losses. Poor things. I hope the rest come through okay. Sounds like you've been given good advice, and sounds like they've got the best care. I'll be following your post.

It's strange, I think about that almost every night when we go to bed and leave the lamps on the chicks. Maybe I worry too much, but this is a concern of mine everytime we have a brooder going.
