terrible hatch rates!

I never heard what type of incubator OP was using. That itself is important. Before we even go any further really .Some wafer thermostats are great. Some are not as exact.I have one going on four years in a hovabator. They are only 6 bucks so I bought a coupla extras just to have on hand. Now any way I looked at it I can only see a forced air of any kind not affecting the temp as she claimed unless helping it stay More precise as Tony KT pointed out. Also like Bluegoose said. The room temp around the incubator affects everything unless the thing has about 12 inches of insulation.

Ive never had a problem hatching pheasnt eggs as opposed to quail though. You seem to think it is not a bacterial problem though Missred871 but at the very least I would clean the bator then you definitely know that isnt it. Because if you been hatching out alot with no problems this is what I would suspect first or check your thermostat second whatever kind it is. I personally think these are the main two issues of incubation problems. Also like poultry Rocks said There aint NO guarantee on shipped eggs for sure. Hope you get the problem solved and if you do let us know what it was.

It is a hovabator. And if the thread was read carefully you would see I said, that the temperature was affected by the temperature OUTSIDE the incubator. We do not have central heat and air in our home and it has been in the upper 80s in the day and 40s at night thus fluxuating the temps in the incubator. Also, I disconnected the fan a WEEK ago, and ever since have had stable temps. However temps are not affecting the hatch rates that was a totally different discussion that got started. I was having humidity issues. I also stated in a previous post that I was using a hovabator to incubate and a still air LG to hatch. Also, the hatcher is where I am having my issues, I have tried three different hatches in it and have disinfected it each time. The exact same way as I did with my Hovabator. I never put eggs into my incubators without first cleaning them. HOWEVER, I said I hatched out other kinds of birds with no problems, quail chickens and ducks, I am new to pheasant breeding however. My eggs are my own they are NOT shipped. Okay I think I covered everything you said LMAO I am at work on the night shift and have a sick 4 year old at home, thanks to a little boy in her class that insists on coughing on everyone else.... No problem. I was just trying to cover all your bases. At this time the only problem I can see is the LG. Definitely not trying to be rude here and dont know any other way to say it but those LG's are known for alot of problems. Hope your little one gets better.

Yeah I have heard LGs have issues but it doesnt seem tobe having any issues that I notice with temp or anything like that so I am hoping that adjusting the humidity and putting the eggs in cartons will help the hatches. We shall see Lockdown is on Thursday. Thanks I have my hands even more full now, my grandfather woke up sick... UGH I told him not to let my daughter cough all over him! He never listens!
