Terrible Massacre.... Why? Graphic details with possible graphic pics.

for those that may be concerned, it was not a rouge hen, I am pretty sure it was a raccon. I have a window I have been leaving open about 5" to allow some air flow. The window is about 6' off the ground, so I figured nothing small enough to fit in could jump up that high. Well, I had a 6' stp ladder I was using to add some roosts in the coop that I had stupidly left leaning on the side of my coop that provided a perfect path right in the window.
This morning I opened my coop to discover a scene that made the first one like a pg rated movie. I spent the better part of a box of 410 shells euthanize horrifically injured birds. I did not count so I do not know how many I lost or how many I have left, but I filled a 30 gallon hefty bag full of birds and bird pieces. It was defiantly a predator or multiple predators as at least one bird was about half eaten. the rest just had their heads gnalled (including a few that where still alive that I euthanize).
They got all but one of the chicks I let a broody hen brood, they also got the broody hen. I caught the last chick and put her in a rubber made, I will get her up to size to go back out with the remaining hens.

Needless to say I am declaring war on raccoons. I have one live trap and will be stopping by TSC to buy a few more, followed by a trip to walmart to get a few extra boxes of 410 shells.

Do you have a dog that wouldn't mind spending the night in the chicken coop?? Or spending the night "patroling" the chicken coop??

I have 2 pitbulls that are chicken friendly, however they are bed puppies and stricly house dogs. I am going to get some motion activated LED lights to mount on the coop. I know this will not stop them but it will make it so my motion sensitive home survalence system will activate and give me an alarm.

I will also put out some traps.... Anyone know where I can get some claymores?
