Terribly swollen eye :(

Did you notice any foul smell coming from her mouth? Take a whiff.
At your suggestion, I took a whiff! No smell whatsoever. So that's hopefully good? Also as a newly minted chicken lady... I have no idea how I would get a good look at her throat. Do I sort of squeeze her mouth open? Show me your expert chicken ways!

I have seen this before and pictures of this type of swelling without the other symptoms of a foamy eye and MG (mycoplasma gallisepticum.) I would try treating her with Tylosin powder in her water. You can get that at Jedds.com. Dosage is 1 tsp per gallon of water for 5 days.
Thank you for this -- I just did a thorough deep dive on MG and did find some pics that looked similar. I hope she doesn't have it, it sounds like it could get a lot worse! The lady at the feed store said she didn't think Tylosin was legal in NY, but I think she's wrong... but I found it on Jedds.com like you said. Thank you for sharing!!

Thanks for your kind replies, everyone! Super super helpful. I'm attaching a pic from today, both sides of her face... is it just me or does the swelling look *slightly* better? Could just be the light. Her energy still seems normal and she's eating. No foul smell or any kind of odor. If it's a bee sting or something -- and we do seem to have lots of giant bees on the property this year -- maybe it will continue to go down?
My baby girl had the same thing happen to her. Her face was swollen just like this. I was worried at first but then decided to let it heal by itself. The swelling eventually went away on its own and she is never better! Probably just a sting from a darn little bug lol. I hope your baby girl is feeling better!!

Thank you so much for saying this!! I was really worried last night when I discovered it (obviously, with my late-night posting) -- just want her and everyone in my little flock of five to be okay. I'm heartened that your baby girl's swelling went away, I hope this is our story, too. In the meantime, I will try to stop clucking like a nervous maternal hen! ;)
