My husband works in Metro DC. A huge office building complex in the middle of a concrete jungle. Going out at lunch he found a momma duck and 9 ducklings foraging around a break area for food. The female is greyish brown with white lacing. I have no clue what she might be. He took the mother and ducklings around to a sheltered area of the complex where they wouldn't be run over and could eat.

Would it be wrong for him to bring her and the ducklings home and turn them out here to be fed and cared for? Or leave them to forage for food scraps and possibly run over by traffic?

Get em girl!!

She is not a mallard, therefore not protected. Most likely a dump.
Go get her and bring her home!
Get the Mom first, then the babies.

I asked for more photos. From what photos he sent I am sure she is a mallard.

She will have to be left there to fend for herself and her babies.

Can anything be done for her, Terrie?

Go get them first, then try to contact a licensed rehabber. That falls under a Good Samaritan act. You need to do your best to place them with a Licensed wildlife rehabber, not just anyone. If you can't find one you need to let them go. Where you let them go is not for me to say, I don't know your area.

you can check the rescuer listings on Duck Rescue and see if anyare in your area. Other than that, you can try the google search or your dept of fish and wildlife for ideas.
