Terrified to clip a chickens wing

Hello, recently my chickens have started hopping the fence and I looked up how to clip they're wings and it look pretty scary. Is there any tips y'all can give me or things to avoid?

One thing about clipping wings is, you take away the birds best chance to escape predators. How high is your fence?

Not sure the exact measurements but I don't usually have problems with predators as the fence is no where near the woods and the coop is surrounded by houses. the birds are in more danger outside of the fence than they are in it. I lock them in at night and the predators wouldn't dare come out during the day.

We clip ours with no problem. It's no different than cutting your hair or nails. Your chickens are safer in their pen than out of it. After you trim a wing or two you'll see how easy it is and you'll be fine!

I’ve always heard (at least from my aunt) that you’re only supposed to clip one wing so it throws them off balance when they try to fly?

But then again they can’t escape predators.
