TEST JUST FOR FUN

Glad that you were able to take your chicks somewhere with power. Pretty cute. I know it was pretty cool here last night. We finally got our power back on last night. They told us that it would be 7-10 days before it came back on. So happy that they were wrong! I told DH that wi was happy that I decided to leave my eggs with Big momma and not in the incubator.

Well I got power last night.

Using the candle , Could be a risk with fire. I turn the bottom tray upside down and placed the candle on it. nothing above it for over a foot. Plus I stay near it all night. Humdity got a little low, but keeping the temp. up was the trick. It got down in the 60s sure i would have lost those last few without the candle idea.

The idea came from back in 1978 bizzard that hit Ohio. A trucker was stuck for days. Heated his cab with a candle, after running out of fuel. With temp. down to -20 degrees.

Wow I cannot believe your hatch rate! That is amazing! Any updated pics?

Oh, and I remember the 1978 blizzard! I had the chicken pox and my mom wouldn't let me play outside with my siblings.

Just checking back in to see how your hatch went - What a pleasant surprise to find that you hatched quite a nice batch of refrigerator babies! And with a power outage, no less!!! So, how many fuzzy butts did you end up with after all was said an done?

I'm sure glad I found this page, a friend of mine from YouTube told me about refrigeration of eggs until I get enough eggs to hatch. I'm going to give this a try I started yesterday collecting eggs, need 150 should have that many in 8-10 days.
