ok so i got my new hovabator incubator today and i was wandering about some things. do i have to put test eggs in and would it be ok if i didnt i judt put the egs i want in please helpppppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You dont have to put test eggs in- but getting a machine tweeked right and working out what works best can take a few goes. If you arent going to do a test run- set it up for a few days first making sure the temp is really stable. Once you add the eggs it will take a while to come back up to temp again so dont be tempted to play with the settings for at least 12 hours.

Let it run empty for several days to make sure it will hold a steady temperature and humidity.

I suggest that you not use expensive eggs for your first batch. You will need to learn how your incubator works. I wouldn't hatch eggs I didn't want hatched (like eggs from Trader Joe's. What would I do with a hatch of Leghorn chicks?). But you don't want to use expensive shipped eggs for your very first batch, either.

Use eggs that you will be happy to get chicks from, but that it won't cost you a lot of money if, for any reason, the incubator gets out of adjustment or turns out to be defective.
