Texas 2011 Chickenstock

I hope I can make it. I won't have any eggs to trade but I might have some young cockerels to rehome if any of my 6 straight run chicks turn out to be roosters.

I look forward to meeting some of the Texans on BYC!

That does sound like fun. I am game for anything...

The only draw-back to hunting for eggs this time of year, is that you may end up with a rattlesnake in your basket.

hmmm... hadn't thought about the snake issues... eek!
maybe just a swap would be best... and safer!

I'm in San Marcos as well! Add me to whatever list, I'll be there! I have Delaware fertile eggs to trade!

I'm so excited!

Marked my calendar! This will be my first Chickenstock.

So what do ya'll usually do (besides talk chickens)? A pot luck lunch or something?

Last years activities included a tour of the Allen Wranch's fabulous chicken coops. Even though I toured the coops last year, I'm really looking forward to doing it again this year as I was most impressed with their set up - everything is so very well thought out!
The event was Pot-luck, so everyone brought a dish to share - there was some really yummy food last year.
There were wonderful door prizes... those are always alot of fun.
There was alot of visiting and talking chicken.
It looks like this year we will be adding a hatching egg exchange... where you can bring hatching eggs to trade with others. A fun way to add some new breeds to your flock!
Please note that this is just what I happen to remember from last years event and from what I've gathered from our discussions so far for 2011... soooo if I'm missing anything... please feel free to add!

Amy pretty much summed it up, but we will add more details as the event gets closer.

Chickenstock will also be in conjunction with the Austin Backyard Poultry Meetup group's May meetup, and I already have about 10 people confirmed from them.

How fun!! San Marcos isn't too far from me.... I'll give a tentative yes for now!! Finally, someone I can ramble on and on with about chickens without getting that "are you for real" stinkeye look!
