Texas Panhandle AMARILLO TEXAS Chicken Swap Meet at TSC

Is 6.5 hrs considered driving distance?

Out west, yes. Back East? Anything more than 20 minutes is "too far away"

I am still working on this. Have asked a couple of the *seasoned* ladies on here that hold them in the NE for pointers.

My biggest concern is the Texas laws. I just read on another thread that sellers must be registered. Is this the same as NPIP certified?

I would like to not only have chickens and other small livestock, but crafts and homemade goodies too.

Anyone want to pipe in here with help, information, etc?

What do you mean registered? I am not aware of such laws in Texas...but I am used to being wrong!!! I bet NPIP certification would get us by...thankfully I finally got that done!! I don't really have any real info to help with...sorry. Willing to do what I can though...we are having a get together in OK April 25th. It is gonna bet at a KOA campground. Couple of us are bringing large cookers and the meat...the rest are bringing side dishes and desserts and the stuff to eat on and such. Looks like we will have enough campers to get the meeting area for free and such. We are getting poops and the whole nine yards! Might jet over there to see how we are doing it? I will try and be as much help as I can be...I am not a good planner. Figure a date and holler...I will get quail in tthe bator!

There are two types of registration in Texas.

One is similar to NPIP. The flock is tested for PT and the owner is given a certificate saying their flock is PT certified free. This allows the owner to enter their birds in Texas shows and sell birds and hatching eggs from their property. The testing is by the state and it is free. However, if you sell eggs or chicks over the state line, you pay $25 per year to do so.

The other is like a dealer registration and is primarily for people who sell their birds at swap meets or shows. The birds still have to be PT tested and certified, but you pay a fee on a sliding scale based on the number of birds you sell per year.

Does this help ?

cool info...sounds like a pain in the bottom area! Guess I am a bad boy! Know anything about out-of-staters bring birds in to swap and such?
