New chick mom, our girls are almost 3months old. Their coop & run have plenty of shade and fresh water.. Now that temps are starting to rise I notice them panting a lot. I know this is how they regulate but when should I be worried?
It's about 97 outside today.
What should I be looking out for ito overheating?

I’m in Texas too. When it’s triple digits or close to it- I add water they can stand in- a couple of baking trays in deep shade are easy and helpful. I haven’t lost chickens to heat. A raccoon, yes.

I love this idea. Do they willingly go stand in the water or do you need to lure them with treats? I'm going to pick up some dollar store trays today and try it out! Thank you.

It took mine a few days to get used to them- usually one of them figures it out and steps in. Treats could be smart! They are very shallow, just enough to cool their feet. It’s very easy to set up and reset for me. Running a mister resulted in too many flies over here but this has been easy!

I like it, definitely going to try it. Thank you!

Yes the flies are indeed a thing. I bought these fly traps from amazon and they are making a big difference, have 3 in & around the coop. No chemicals, just stinky bait.
