I appreciate all the support the board has offered me during this first hatch. Ups and Downs and a million questions (well...a few, but, still..) since day 1! As I finally had to fill the bathroom with steam and heat and go in to help one out (it truly was a last resort and the only thing that saved it), I realized after that my knees were so weak when I was done and my stomach is still a bit queezy.....this is NOT easy, but, it is one of the most rewarding things you can do. It has been incredible for me, the children, even my husband

although he would not admit to any enjoyment or interest in the process (all while he beamed at the newbies yesterday in the incubator!) It has been quite a ride and I thank those of you who helped me along! I will post pics soon as I got some great ones!

we need a smiley that wipes its brow for "phew!"

I'm SO glad that you had a positive experience and your babies are doing well. Hatching, especially when you have to help for some reason, is physically and emotionally exhausting. But so, so rewarding.
Kind of like pregnancy and labor.

I gotta say, there is so much information available on this board. Its great. From the very simple to the more advanced. Love!

I was in the same boat. Millions of questions or wanting to know every minute detail of the incubation and hatching process. I think, too, that it helps keep you SANE while you wait. I gotta say, fussing with those eggs every single day, three times a day, really makes it that much harder and more exciting. Its like a test, to see how well you did! and the end result is cute little baby chicks.

Totally awesome all around.

I am going to start my first batch of eggs Sat the 9th and I have learned so much here. I am going to be bundle of nerves till it is all over, not knowing if the eggs are fertile and all that. 21 days is a long time with having to turn the two to three time a day and hoping that the temp is good and all that.

Believe me-it does get easier! Each batch is still just as exciting as the ones before-maybe even more so, as you gain experience! I still get weak-in-the-knees when I think about helping one out. Congratulations on your hatch!
