I couldn’t find the thread I read that was so helpful, so I’m putting this here.
A reply in said thread explained proper rooster behavior. As I read it I realized that my rooster was not treating the hens properly. He would ‘ambush’ to breed them. One hen in particular seemed to dislike him.
I separated him. Not one hen made any attempt to get near him! I’ve separated roosters before and had hens hanging around the pen even though they couldn’t see him.
I wish I could thank the person who wrote the reply, you have made my hens very happy.

Okay, underneath "Your Content" is "Reactions Given." You must've liked or loved it!
I sure have liked & loved a lot of things :) I still didn’t find it, probably didn’t recognize the name of the thread. I wonder if it was you who wrote the reply.
Lady had a pullet and cockerel, cockerel over breeding pullet. Bantams maybe. Put cockerel with older hens, solved problem.

No, there's a lot of posts I post on but that one isn't ringing a bell. Someday you'll see it again if someone posts on it, or hope so anyway! ☺️

How kind that you are trying so hard to say thank you
☺️
I have had chickens for 40 years. I thought I had a clue about them, then I joined BYC.
I have saved three because of threads dealing with injuries and defects. I euthanized one because I understood the quality of life would not be good.
I have had good luck with roosters. I kept this one with the girls because he’s gorgeous. I knew he was different with them but didn’t recognize how bad it was for the girls until I read this reply.
I will continue to look for the thread. Their reply should be an article about roosters and correct behavior.
Thank you @Loving my girls

I rated this rooster article yesterday. I rated it low because of all the typos and grammatical errors, and I even offered to help them fix it up a bit. I saw some good comments too. I'm not sure if it's the one but might help all the same.
