Hi! I'm Cindy. Thonk you for letting me join. We had chickens when I was a kid. We had a flock of 20-25 White Plymouth Rocks and 2 White Leghorns (dad gave in to me when I asked for us to get them!). I would love to have just a couple of chickens for eggs. I currently live in a small rural town. I have asked town hall if a couple of backyard chickens are acceptable. I have yet toreceive a response. So I'm wondering if I dare!?!

Welcome to BYC!

Oh, I sure hope you can keep chickens in your area! Some people do keep them even though the laws prohibit chickens. I believe they have cleared it with the neighbors first however. You might want to stop by our Local Chicken Laws and How To Change Them section and maybe you can chat with others in your area as to what the laws are...

You can also chat with your chicken neighbors in your state thread too to see if they know anything. Scroll down to find your state thread....

Good luck and I sure hope you can keep a flock of chickens soon!!

Thank you! When I first moved to this little town, I soon added a pet house bunny. Later, I found out that rabbits weren't allowed, but I spoke with the top person of the town and he said go ahead and keep your bunny! No one that I knew of had ever complained about my little dwarf black bunny that I named Kit. I'd take her for walks outside my house on a leash. I had quite a few people stop and chat about Kit. I had her for about 9 years before I had to put her down from a severe stroke. I am hoping to one day be able to have just a couple of chickens! Thank you for the info links!
