(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I am new again. I had chickens over 17 years ago but moved and could not keep them or have them where we lived. I got 2 beautiful hens yesterday.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 2 but hope to have many more in the coming months.
(3) What breeds do you have? Lavender Orpington
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I love watching them. And of course the beautiful fresh eggs.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Gardening and sewing/quilting, I dabble in sourdough baking and fermenting.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I am married to my soulmate now for 44 years. I am a mom of 3 grown girls. I have 5 grand babies. No other pets at the moment. I lost my fur baby in Feb. and we moved states 3 weeks ago so I did not want to get another just yet. But soon I hope. I have not worked since my husband was transferred and we moved over 17 years ago. I need to be able to come home if my girls needed. I am a family oriented momma. Love being with family. And ready to have my lil funny girls running around again. All I have is a small tractor at the moment that holds 2 to 4 hens. But we are waiting on getting the lot next to us and I will have a big coop and run area. Well by big I mean it will hold hopefully about 12 chickens. And I also want to raise a few meat birds. Never did that.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? I found BYC while searching for information on natural antibiotics for chickens. Because I believe one of my babies has respiratory issues. And I would like to go as natural as I can.
