This forum is ridiculously addictive. I've spent countless hours reading through the posts and soaking up information. I'd like to express my thanks to all who have shared their experience and knowledge here. With your help I've managed build a useful brooder out of scrap wood and set everything up properly for my chicks. You've also helped me to design a workable chicken coop which is 8x8 with a 20x8 roofed run (yes I did make it bigger than I originally thought I would need, and yes I can see that I should have made it bigger still because I already want More Chickens).
I received 30 straight run EEs on Friday and they are adorable. DH and I can't get enough of the "chicken TV." Some of them had curled toes, and based on info I found here I was able to make splints/flippers for them out of transpore tape (medical tape) which has fixed all but one of them.
