lol yeah! You know what she did later that SAME day? Lost ANOTHER one! I caught it though... after a huge snake tried to eat it and scared it out of its hiding place! I lucked out that time for sure. She is now banned from the quail. lol

Think I'd be putting some padlocks on the cages if it were me!!

I had a hen escape this past winter. Well, all of them escaped actually, but the roo and the other hen were hanging out in the barn. The other hen was gone. I searched forever looking for her, and for days afterwards. I figured she had been gotten by something.

About 2 or 3 months later, one of my dad's dogs came up with the quail hen in her mouth. She hadn't killed it, since it was already stiff. But it hadn't been dead long.

So it just goes to show that they can and will survive if they need to

I only wish I would have found her before then.

I wish my mom was INTERESTED in anything I did. Never was never will be. Count yourself lucky that you have a parent that participates in what you do. Not everyone is so lucky....now, off my parental soapbox!!

Yeah, I do appreciate all the help she does. But she just has some major spaz moments when it comes to birds.

After the quail incident she ended up losing one of my chickens too. I wasn't home and she wanted to give the birds a treat. I came home to watch her running around our huge pasture chasing a tiny bantam hen.
