I got 3 breeds of Bantams from Cackle in February.

Barred Rocks, RIR's and Dominique bantams (rare).

All 27 they sent arrived well and healthy, they started a riot from day 1.

I did not lose one so far.

They are excellent quality birds, seems some of them would be possible show contestants.

My experience with Cackle was not so great. I ordered in early March, got an 'order recieved' email. I was supposed to get a shipping date within 10 days which I did not recieve. I sent them three e-mails stating I was in no hurry, I just wanted to know they didn't lose my order. Finally got an e-mail May 8 stating my chicks would ship May 11. I got the chicks this morning 5/13 and they are all in great health.

However, I had ordered 25 Buff Orrington pullets and noted they could substitute up to 10 other brown egg layers if necessary but I wanted at least 15 B.O.'s. They substituted all 25 New Hampshire Reds. I also ordered 5 R.I. red cockerels and they sent 6 of those. Which was fine.

I'm sure the N.H. Reds will be fine hens, but I am very disappointed in Cackle's communication.

Also, the point was I wanted the calm disposition of the B.O.'s and I also wanted to be able to spot my red roosters from a mile away in the flock of golden Buff's. I suppose if I'm not happy with the N.H. Reds I'll just butcher more and keep less and get some Buff's from somewhere else next spring. It's a shame really, Cackle is fairly close to me for shipping and apparently hatches super healthy chicks. I wish they could get their service together.
