Welcome. Chickens have good reason to be fearful of people. I agree with @janiedoe about the techniques. However, you will still have a lot of them that run away unless you have treats. I always tease my hens and tell them that they use me for the mealworms. I only have a few that are close to me without treats and I spend a lot of time with them. However, it is very different with my roosters. They love to spend time with me, sit on my lap, talk to me and just hang with me - even without treats.Welcome to BYC. Everyday, spend 15 minutes or more sitting with them. Move slowly and speak quietly. Occasionally sprinkle some treats around you. I guarantee that one will approach you out of curiosity. Don't try to touch them at first. Let them initiate contact. Eventually you'll have two, three, or all of them climbing on your lap.
