Thanks for having me

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Congrats on becoming new chick parents! Definitely do some reading in our Learning Center. All kinds of good reads on raising and keeping them healthy... https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/category/learning-center.11/

Make SURE your coop is 110% predator proof in that nothing can dig under, stick paws in, nothing can slither in, top is secure, nothing can be pulled or chewed apart, no chicken wire, even mice cause trouble. If you feel safe sleeping in there, your birds will be safe. :)

Make yourself at home here and enjoy those babies! :)

Welcome.

The only advice I can give: chicks need less heat than the "general recommendations specific to heat lamps. And it's super easy to over heat them if brooding in a plastic tote. By the time they are 2 - 3 weeks old, they're gonna need 2 s.f./bird. If you give that to them now, it will help prevent overheating.

For the coop: Lots of ventilation. 1 s.f./bird. And, if you can put your general location in your profile, that will help folks to give climate specific advice.

Enjoy. This hobby is addictive.

Thanks for the advice good to know I know this might sound dumb but what are you referring to when you say s.f/bird I’m sorry in a newbie lol

And also I would make a first aid kit just in case here are some pointers
http://www.thecapecoop.com/chicken-first-aid-kit/
Of course you don’t have to have one but it’s good to have one and you can just get all the stuff over time also if you have any bricks put one in the coop when there older they will use it to shave down there beaks so you won’t ever have to trim them
Good luck!!
