I am home now and fine. I had ex-rays first thing after the offices opened. I wound up driving myself as I just couldn't find anyone around that could get off work to help me. My family dooctor saw me and the foot, washed everything off well, wrapped it all up, and sent me off- island to a specialist. She was able to reset all my toes to point foreward again in a more or less orderly fashion, and stitched up the cuts. She wrapped it all up again and I was home on the last ferry to sleep in my own bed. Well downstairs, but I own that bed too.

So thanks to everyone who kept me company while I waited for medical offices to open so I could be seen. It helped a lot.

sweete what the heck have you been doing to yourself..all toes set....

Sorry, I should have made this an update to an earlier post. I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and tripped over the dog. My foot wet through a railing. There isn't realy room for my foot to fit there, but with my bodyweight behind it, The foot went through anyway, at least sort of, mostly.

I live on an island. I called the paramedics and we agreed that the injury was serious but not life threatening, and it was unecessary to airlift me off island to the hospital. The paramedics cleaned it and wrapped it up (so the bent toes were not visible which helped a lot) and all concerned agreed I'd see my on island doctor first thing when the office opened. So I had about 4hrs to kill with no pain meds or anything, and I begged for a little BYC company to ease the wait.

And they came through for me.

ouch.

Hope the dogs ok.

he he he...just kidding.

I hope YOU are ok! Glad you could tough it out and that they got your toes pointed correctly and certainly glad to hear you are back home.

Wow...what a night huh?

me,

Yes the guilty party (dog) is fine. Why is the little ones like him always have to be underfoot I'll never know. He isn't all that bright, and worries a lot. He probably figured there was a chance for food. Darn lucky he is though because he would have been but a fuzzy pancake if I had fallen the other way. He hated spending yesterday alone, and is terrified of crutches. The german shepherd ,who was involved in none of this, is taking it all in stride, but she is smarter.

My black and tan shepard mix...the elderly female is ALWAYS following me around and laying in the doorways and hallways of which ever room I am in....and in the dark...not always such a good scenario.

Her latest misadventures...my couch is actually a daybed (i know, when i was pregnant, i didn't want to walk the stairs so we got rid of our old hand me down spring in the rear couch and got a daybed so I could stay on the first floor and close to the bathroom--

) but that was 3 years ago and so I digress....

anyway, this dog goes and lays next to the daybed and she must roll over or something because her whole body winds up UNDER the bed and she's now deaf and has cataracts and I'll call and call to let the dogs out and it took me a while the first time...to figure out where the heck that dog went. Then i have to slide her back out because she can't stand up and I can't really pull her front legs cause she'll yelp like a big baby....

My word...I'd like to put a trundle bed under there...so the space would be taken up and she couldn't roll under. And my 2 little girls would probably like movie night on a trundle bed....lining up their 20 some beanie babies....

sigh.....

So what planet are you from anyway? I mean what island?

Take care...keep that foot up.

me,
gretchen

Orcas island. It is pretty here. I have a sofa bed too. It is my other spare bedroom. I love two story houses my stairs are one of my favorite things about my house, but sometimes you need to stay downstaiirs alright.
