I once got a “dark mallard” from tractor supply - was hoping it might be a Cayuga, but it was actually a dark mallard, a.k.a. black duck

That's really unusual, most of the time they only have Rouens or Muscovies or Cayugas. If they sold Mallards, they would have to have one prop toe cut or have leg bands or both.
