Purchased my first chickens June of 2020. I currently have 12. My dad built my coop and run that June. And we are just starting an addition to my make their run larger. Best story I have about my chickens is: I was very lucky I married a self proclaimed “city boy”. When I told him I wanted to build a coop his only rule was he didn’t want an ugly coop. He gave me no budget (1st mistake). Husband: is it weird you are putting wallpaper inside a chicken coop? Me: Babe, everyone does that it so much easier to clean. Husband: oh ya I guess that makes sense. Husband: and the chandelier? Me: you said you didn’t want people to recognize it as a coop! Fast forward to this year. Husband: an add on? Wasn’t the first 16 foot run enough? Me: Babe everyone does this. You build the basics then after you live with it you know exactly what you want. Husband: ya I guess that makes sense. Husband: I understand adding another 16 feet to the run, but isn’t it weird to also add a front porch onto the new addition? Me: Babe, it was weird that we didn’t have a porch on the first 16 feet. Husband: Mmmm. Ok?! I guess that will be nice to have. Me: got to love that “city boy” would post pics but new to this and did not know how.
