Welcome here. I am so excited for you guys. We moved from big city to rural area as well. I love my silly hens, they are goofballs so entertaining. Glad you joined us here lots of great people with answers here. Don't tread on me.To introduce ourselves, I'll answer the sample questions:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? We recently moved out of the big city and into rural NE Houston, an area called Huffman. Our property came with chickens and goats!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We 20 mature, 10 almost mature enough to mix with the flock and are ordering another set of 10 6 week old hens. No roosters.
(3) What breeds do you have? We have Barred Rocks, Speckled Sussex, Blue Laced Gold Wyandotte, Cream Legbars, Cuckoo Olive Egger, Splash True Amercauna, Blue Copper Morans, Welsummers, Mottled Java and Americauna Easter Egger
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? This being our first experience, we are finding they are very social birds and many can be super affectionate.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Raising goats, adopting donkeys and firearms intructor
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. Our daughter is in college so it's just my wife and I and we are totally in love with our mini farm! We have three dogs and I'm a long time IT professional by trade.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?I was googling ideas for chicken coops/runs for when we expand ours and came across your blog.
