Hello,

I've created a page on BackyardChickens as a thanks for the coop designs I found and the many many pictures I reviewed in the hours before attempting to build a chicken coop for my daughter's Sunday surprise delivery of 6 little chicks. You can find it here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=54203

I
hope you will add it to your 'coop designs' pages and gallery images as this site brings continued inspiration for our project... and to what seems to be a healthy community of enthusiasts.

As a child, I raised chickens. I had several kinds over the years of my youth, even one that literally lived with me when I was about 6 or 7 years old. Chicken raising ending for me in my teens with a coop on this very property. 30 years later, the property remained, the old coop long buried as the landscape changed and a new house was built. In an ironic circle; my daughter brought home the chicks and without association the new coop we built is placed nearly in the same spot I raised chickens so many years ago.

Included in the small box were the six chicks my daughter selected. There are 3 white Leghorn pullet and 3 R.I. Reds...but one of them is weird. It's not brown, nor developing as quickly as the other 2. It's white with brown, looking rather funny as it feathers out.

I found the site while searching for "Chicken Coop Plans" and closed all other pages once I found it, bookmarked it and had about 50 pages tabbed in my browser to review with family and friends before building.

My other hobbies, lol... are suitable to building a chicken coop from salvaged materials. I enjoy residential home improvement, including historic restoration and contemporary home design. I particularly like dogs but our home includes a cat, 100's of fish in a thriving community of underwater plants and now Chickens. I do like growing trees and have many babies! - which I'll have to figure out what to do with someday.

I'll be visiting the forum occasionally. Thought I'd give some thanks now and lead you to my 'page' https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=54203 so you can check out how helpful this site has been.

That is a wonderful coop. I'm impressed with your skill! My husband built ours, but he is an architect and worked his way through college doing carpentry so he has some experience. Even he said it was not easy getting all the components in and making it safe. Good job!
