I have read so much on here and yesterday I read something about giving your hens a bit of catfood as a treat. Mind you they have a cabbage hanging and just are spoiled in general.

I tossed them a handful of catfood and they all went to town scratching around searching it out in the yard! The post also mentioned that it might get them started laying. Thus far Fancy Pants was the only one laying. Well I will tell you this morning there were two eggs, one olive green and a light brown. Then I checked again later and there was another much lighter blue. So pretty and exciting.

I have started using cat food as a treat, but I grind it up or soak overnight. It has increased my egg production. The reason is for the protein and my girls are in a slight molt. And they need to put on some weight.
