Hi ya'll! I am a SAHM of 4 boys, a boxer dog, 2 recently rescued 6 and 8 week old kittens, 1 cat, 1 lizard and 5 chicks! We live in south central texas surrounded by 75 acres of woodlands. New to here as of end of April.. Wyo and MT roots here so culture shock for sure! lol. (it's hot! There are snakes and scorpions here! lol) Our landlord keeps his backyard chickens here and we take care of them which of coarse started our obsession and we just had to get our own! 2 1/2 weeks ago, we jumped in with both feet! We made a brooder from a shelf/headboard and found some chicks.. love at first sight! We started out with 2 golden laced wyandotte, 2 barred rock, and 2 ameraucana 6 day old chicks! Sadly we lost one barred rock within 12 hrs after we got them. They are 3 weeks today and growing happy and fast! I can def see how ppl can become obsessed with chickens and can't have just one! lol I have been reading your forum and blogs since we first decided. Thanks for having such a wonderful site!
